10 Hacks You Must Know to Get Ready for Independence Day

Fourth of July is just a couple days away and we are excited to celebrate America’s 238th birthday! Here are 10 hacks that will help you get ready for the celebration.  Happy birthday America! Let’s celebrate Dolphin style!

1. Notify your guests with Paperless Post

If you are planning a 4th of July party, you can use Paperless Post. They have a great collection of cards that can be personalized and send out via email and snail mail.

2. Bring the 4th of July spirit home

Apartment Therapy connects people to a range of resources that will help make their homes more beautiful, organized and healthy. Craftgawker is a platform for creative DIYs in all areas – holidays, parties, clothing, furniture and more. If you are running out of time, there is a Buzzfeed article about last minute decorating tricks.

3. Celebrate at home with take-outs

It’s always cozier to celebrate at home, but if you are the type who can’t boil water, you can solve this problem with these great food delivery apps: Grub Hub, Postmates and Munchery

4. Be the chef

If you rather be the chef, you will probably like Pepperplate, which is an app on multiple platforms that helps you manage recipes, create menus, plan meals and make shopping lists. The easy-to-read format, built-in kitchen timers and offline access made it super chef-friendly.

5. Skip the lines at the grocery stores

Amazon Fresh and Google Shopping Express allow you to skip the lines and leave the parking hassles behind.  Amazon Fresh offers 30-day free trial for Amazon Prime members and free same day and early morning deliveries.  Google Shopping Express is now $10 off the first order and free delivery the first six months.  The best deal is that there is no minimal order.

6. Impress your guests with professional’s help

Plated, Blue Apron and Sweet Roots all offer professional chef-curated meals.  The ingredients are hand picked and delivered to your door, so they are ready for cooking.  Your guests will be impressed by your *ahem* culinary skills.  Alternatively, you can go with EatFeastly to enjoy authentic home cooked meals at the cook’s homes.

7. Safe arrival and goodbyes

The roads can be hectic with partygoers and parking in the city can be stressful, why not let Lyft and Uber take care of your commute. There’s also the traditional cab service with Flywheel.

8. Post party cleanup with Homejoy

Schedule cleaning services online and have the professionals come in to take care of the wine spills or scrub the burnt grills.

9. Split the costs via Square Cash

It’s faster than finding your checkbook and cutting the check.  Install the app, set it up once, and you are ready to send or request money over email. There is no service charge for either party.

10. Let’s eat out instead

If you rather take the party elsewhere, you can always make reservations with OpenTable and Savored.  Select time, party size and neighborhoods then a list of available restaurants will show up. It gets better because Savored offers 20% to 30% discounts at a number of restaurants.

Hope these hacks bring out the ‘stars and stripes’ of your red, white and blue day.  Happy 4th of July!
