'What you do, and what you don't (uh huh)/What you will and what you won't (uh huh)/What you can and what you can't (uh huh)/This is what you've got to know: loved you though it didn't show. . . .Da Da Da'- the song and instrument (and band) that took the early 80s Germany by storm. 'Da Da Da'. Cool app!

I still have the real deal that I bought in 1983. It had a calculator.

    I like it.
I think that a sequencer would be a great addition! Also, on the subject of sampling from the internal speaker, why not add a faded between the two sample types? I'm sure it could result in some interesting sounds

My girlfriend hated when I would ask to borrow her VL. I spent more hours with it than I did makin' out with her. Shows where my priorities were. This app takes me back, but now I gotta hit eBay to find my own.

    Rated before finishing downloading app.
I had one of these from way back yonder. This is awesome. Can't wait to play...." Ada da da"

    Step sequencer please!
Had loads of fun with this thanks. Can only get better with the sequencer :-)

Great little app.; simulates a VL-Tone very well. I have one of these retro calculator/keyboard instruments and it sounds just the same.
  • Naomi Technoir
    Great fun
I'm no musician, but it's really fun to just bang out some cool noises with this thing. Love it!

Nice initial attempt. It's sluggish and doesn't yet match the original, but it's a really good start.

    Interactive LCD would be cool
This is a cool app, I would like to see what you mentioned, being able to capture sound and turn it into a sample.

    VERY cool and functional app
Works perfectly on my nexus 4. Not only that, but you can actually make MUSIC with this app. Looks great too. Very highly recommended by me, and I have used A LOT of music apps for android.

Thanks for this. An uncle of mine had one in the early 80's. This retro-app works good! Gonna use it in my home studio, no lagging, plays like the real deal. Sounds true to the original. Highly recommended!

    Very nice!
This is very nice, everyone will recognise the rock1 pattern...but it would be nice if the buttons were functionable rather than providing a menu.

I had the original and this is spot on. Just wish I had bent it
  • Danny Kurniawan
The Rock-1 rhythm ♡♡♡ Just wish there is more key tones. It's hard to play one complete song if you have to choose "Octave" during playing.

Oh man, so many memories of my brother and I parading around the house with the VL Tones when we were kids! This is a fun nostalgic walk down memory lane haha

One of the best free synth/keyboard apps on the market. Easy to use and totally fun.

A bit laggy in an unusual way. Guess it's not meant to have multi touch?

Captures the spirit of the original
Such fun, and shows how far we have come with electronic and sampled music. It's a great way to look back and remember, that something good is timeless and is never obsolete.

    This is Amazing!
Feels real looks real plays real! Sound is fast and consistent to the touch! Whoever made this app needs to make a full series of synths and add swipe to left or right to move up and down synth for oactives and add joystick to wave and bend notes.....

    Pretty cool
Needs record , export and a sequencer. sounds close to the real deal. Some type of visual verification of what button you pressed would also be good

    For design 6 stars..classy
For functionality 5 stars. For accuracy four stars... The demo song can make you so happy. And the cheesy rock beat, like listening to sexy bus stop or Ryo Kawasaki on c64... But... what? No calculator?

Pure nostalgia. My patents wouldn't buy me one of these when I was a kid. At last I got one :-)

    Cool history preserved!
Gosh, this brings back some memories! Wrote and recorded song back in the 80's using the funky "Rock 2" pattern, a guitar, a thunderstorm, and reel tape and thought about re-recording it on today's technology but my beloved little VL Tone was long gone. Thought I'd try to find a sample of it online and stumbled on your clever and amazing app. Works just like my old Casio in every way. Thanks for taking the time to preserve some early electronic history! My hat is off to you sir! GonzoGator

    VL~Tone On My Phone!
I still have my vl tone from when I was a kid and this app is a superbly crafted salute to it. In fact, with the touchscreen its effortless to jam out, compared to working those old clackity keys... well done! Most fun I've had since I found the vst plugin
  • Ricardo Elbandito
    Not too bad
Good sounds... Beware though: If you play a rhythm and them hit one of the tempo keys, everything will freeze up and then force close.

I used to have one of these things. A huge smile spread across my face when I pressed the orange MUSIC button. Not easily usable as an instrument tho.

I used to own one, brilliant! Just as I remember it. No lag on Galaxy Ace Gingerbread 2.3.4. Thanks guys.

    Good Old Days
Surprised to see this app. I have the casio VL-1 at home and I now I use it to entertain my 3 1/2 year old little niece. Going strong generation after generation. Good stuffs never age. Kudos to the developer. Also one suggestion, only a part of the instrument is visible in the app. Can you make it full?

    Just like the real thing!
I wanted one if these back in about 1981 and eventually got a real one in 2006 - only 25 years later. Now, thanks to this app, I have two.... HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

On my Galaxy S II this is fabulous. No lag as reported by others and great for bashing out a tune. Excellent! keep up the good work.

I had a real one of these back in the day. This is a pretty good simulation going by memory. Sounds a little better than the original I think. And no boring ads!
