Devs at LG are Morons. This App to the rescue
Ok so the Developers at LG who released the latest Firmware update thought the brightness adjustment slider wasn't necessary and removed it from the pull down notification on the home screen. This App itself is perfect but can't compare to the integrated brightness slider. The way I have configured this app is I've put a widget on the top left of ALL of my phone screens(5 total)so no matter whatever page I am, I can simply tap the top left & adjust. Simple & I love it. Thank you 2 the curvefish devs! LG G2

Useful; does what it says on the tin.
Like most of the widgets from CurveFish that I've tried, it is simple and useful. It isn't exciting, but it isn't aiming to be. It adds useful functionality with minimal perms. W Hat else is there to ask for from 120k?

Very useful, but could use a few tweaks
It's astonishing that an app like this is necessary, but it is, and it does its job well. My only real complaints are that the widget isn't useful, and that the presets are linear when they really need to be logarithmic: I don't need a 75% preset, which isn't much different from 50% and 100%, nor 0%, which is silly, but 16% and 8% would be very useful.

Some reviews on here are stupid and miss the point. Kevin says it's not as good as Dimly or Night Screen. Well this isn't meant to be one of those screen FILTER apps duh, it's just a quick, simple, convenient way of selecting your preferred brightness level from some handy options. The results are obviously tied to the system's default scale. Saves you going into settings. It doesn't claim to be something it's not like many apps. Amazing how some people can't understand or appreciate such a useful app.

    G3 out of sync
Worked great on my galaxy s3. On my new LG G3 though the setting in the widget doesn't match my phone. Eg. In the widget I set it to 25%. My phone will be set to 11%. It's rather odd.

VERY nice... but a small addition or change
This app is wonderful, with one small exception. Similar to what some others have said, it would be nice to have a slightly different selection of brightness choices. What I would TRULY like to see, is some way for the user to be able to set the percentages on the selection choices. Something along the lines of maybe when you select and hold the choice for a few seconds, you could then set the brightness level for that button. Or possibly just another button, that would allow the user to set up what percentages the main selections would be. I know, it may be more complicated than what I think it would be... but it would really make this a true 5 star app for me... and in the end... isn't my opinion the only one that matters? :)

    Great Little App
I got tired of having to go to the settings to change the screen brightness all the time and then I found this app. It works great and is exactly what I needed. The only thing that keeps this from being a five-star app is the lack of a customized percentage button function. But other than that it's a great app.

    Works well for me
Love this widget. It sits on my home screen for easy access. Don't agree with Robert about needing more presets. You just drag the slider to the level you want - and you can see the light level change as you do so.
  • Bryan Miller
Excellent. Works from within other apps too.
When this app is triggered (I tied it to a gesture using GMD Gesture Control) it does not switch away from the current app. The popup appears on top of the running app. Sweet!

I will uninstall it because I've upgraded to jelly bean and I have it up there. It served me well for about a year. No bugs, no lags, no ads, no pay and no nothing nasty, just did it's job flawlesly.

    Lacking on one thing
It's the best out there but it still needs a custom preset. I find that 25% is no lower than what my Auto does and is still too bright but the slider lets me set it to 10% which is perfect. What's this about no sense UI? works fine on Thunderbolt.
  • Dillon Hockett
Does what it says. Nothing more. I'm tired of apps that try to be 10 things at once and just end up sucking when you only want one of its features. This is refreshingly simple and very effective.

    Works Well
This widget is exactly what I needed to moderate the brightness in order to save battery. The Exhibit 2 does not have auto brightness (go figure) so its not the devs fault that it doesn't work. While it would be nice to be able to adjust the presets I am none the less happy with it.

    Works great on Sams Infuse
The checkbox for "close on select" is cleared everytime my phone locks. Annoying. One other question: I saw a help screen when I first tapped the widget. How can I get it back?
  • Oleksii Surzhenko
Good app, but might be better
Very simple and nice app. Unfortunately, user is not allowed to adjust brightness levels for predefined buttons (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100%). The slider minimum & maximum values are also not configurable.
  • Charlie Hunter
    So close to perfect
I'm impressed by the amount of functionality this pseudo-widget gives with only two taps and the auto close feature is great, but 0% via this widget is juuuust above actual system 0% (nexus 4). One of those things that's so close to perfect it drives you crazy...
  • Karel Tau
includes "auto" setting which (as of now) is not visible on the screenshots here. the 'close on exit' button closes the app once you've made your choice - very useful and something that other apps need to steal for sure. nice design. other similar widgets available. the only drawback: no timeout widget similar to this one has been made available... yet.

    Can't find it!
I keep my display on lowest brightness setting, this hopefully saves battery power and my kindle app is not too intense at night. I can't find this app in bright sunlight, catch 22.I can place this app everywhere except for the home page bottom row. If positioned there I can find it on bright days and adjust settings.I'd like to know how to move it to the bottom bar...this bit dont work so only 4*
  • Nancy Zuniga
    Thrilled with this app!
I bought a used Verizon LG G2 VS980 and found that even with the phone's brightness setting at 100%, the screen was very dim and causing eye strain. This app works amazingly well and has fixed the problem. Very user-friendly too.

Works very well, simple, no fanfare
Just what I wanted, a quick way to access the brightness level. A good alternative to Android's lack of a quick way to access this most used functionality. PS: follow instructions in this page carefully to get rid of the ad that first appears. It took me a couple of times to get rid of it. HTC Desire

    Good but...
Its a great app for sure. Only thing that's an issue is that the auto function does NOT work. Please try to fix that. Thank you anyway for the option to close on select. I really like that. - on a HTC Sensation.

    Good App!!!...with some minor issues.
It is a useful app. You can quickly set the brightness level in one or two clicks. It would have been even greater if there was a option to set customizable levels (eg: 35%, 65% etc). I am facing the following issues on my Samsung Note II. 1) Touching the widget sometimes takes me to the display settings screen. 2) Touching fast on the widget sets the brightness level to 100% without bringing up any screen.
  • Richard Kirby
    It's simple, stable and works
The stock auto brightness function on my LG G3 is set too dark. The alternative was to manually adjust it several times a day. I then used Lux Auto Brightness and whilst I liked the option to create my own light profile for different conditions, it began crashing periodically. I switched to this app and found it to be simple and more stable. I installed it, switched it to 'Auto' and have had no issues since. It effectively does the job of controlling screen brightness which is exactly what i need it to do.
  • Anthony Williams
    Good but needs more control
This is a good app but could be better. Icon is a bit big, but that's a minor issue. The main thing is the lowest setting is only 25% and I want it lower. I'd hoped you'd be able to set it but doesn't appear to so going to uninstall and use stock Android power bar. Just not right for me but it is still good.
  • A Google User
    Works great!
5 stars. Dont know what complaints r about. Best brightness widget found. No ads with 4 presets and if the presets exacts enough for you there's a cool slider feature
  • Alex McPhail
    Simplicity in Perfection
I find the auto-brightness to be inadequate on my Samsung S4, and changing the brightness is too involved. This simple little app puts brightness control into your hands, and requires only two touches to activate the app, select the desired brightness, and close the app again. You can also select and defeat auto-brightness through this app any time. A slide bar let's you easily select a brightness level not found in the predefined buttons. Simply perfect little app.

    Improvement required
It's good except one small glitch. It doesn't bring the brightness all the way down. When it shows 0% still 1 lvl of brightness remains which i turn down from settings. Then it's widget shows -1% which is strange. Fix it and you get 5 stars from me.
  • Sarah Shannon
    Good app. Reliable.
This is a good app that does exactly what you expect it to. The one thing that might be nice to have would be the ability to choose your own presets. For instance, because of the ambient light level in my office, I prefer to keep the brightness level at 18% instead of 25%. Another suggestion would be the ability to set the brightness to negative levels. I keep another app on my phone for that one feature and have to switch back and forth. These are both "nice to have"s so I'm still giving 5 stars.

    The Perfect Widget
Having found myself changing the screen brightness fairly often, I went searching for a widget to make that process faster. This app answered that call to perfection - haven't had a problem yet!
  • Aneesh Jindal
    Extremely useful
If you change your screen brightness a lot (I do), then this is a must have widget. By pressing the 1x1 icon on the screen a pop up appears with a slider that lets you change the screen brightness and some preset buttons to make it even faster.
  • A Google User
    Great app!
One bug: it stores the last percentage set through the app instead of reading it. Thus, after a change through another app, an incorrect number is displayed. I'd like to set the values for the buttons myself. I never use 100% (once on a direct sun on snow), rather 15%.

Great for devices without auto brightness
My Nook HD+ doesn't have an auto brightness sensor. This app is great to letting me quickly change the brightness level with one or two taps instead of having to dig through the menu.
  • Adam Porter
Phone had no auto brightness before
My LG phone doesn't have the light sensor to adjust my screen brightness automatically. This app has been a great help and I'd recommend it to anyone in the same situation.
